Sandspit
| To reach Sandspit, head
towards Snells Beach from Warkworth. Sandspit turn off is about five minutes
along the way. Here we have a lovely secluded bay. The ferry to
Kawau Island
leaves from here. Kawau island hosts many walks ranging from a few minutes to
a few hours. Back at Sandspit is The Sandspit Motor camp is a very family friendly camp. One of the attractions of the Motor Camp is the museum type display featuring early pioneer life in the Sandspit area.
The camp entrance is right next to the wharf
at the end of the road. This is an ideal base for families who wish to take
the ferry to Kawau Island. Camp fees are very reasonable and there is no set
checkout time for van and tent sites off peak periods.
